(The following excerpts from a page of The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.)
On 29 January 2016, the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games today published the Tokyo 2020 High-level Sustainability Plan and the Fundamental Principles for the Sustainable Sourcing Code.
With a view to developing the content of the High-level Sustainability Plan, the Organising Committee established the Urban Planning and Sustainability Commission in June 2015. This commission is made up of academics and experts from NGOs and other organisations, and is tasked with discussing matters related to the area of Urban Planning and Sustainability. In July 2015, the Organising Committee also set up a Sustainability Discussion Group as an affiliated organisation to consider specific sustainability-related issues. Separate discussions on specific topics with other specialists have also taken place as required.
In order to further develop the Tokyo 2020 Sustainability Plan and the Tokyo 2020 Sustainability Sourcing Code to be finalised by the end of 2016, we will obtain ideas, feedback and useful information from delivery partners*. However, there is also scope to incorporate ideas, suggestions, etc. received from the general public.
All feedback received will be considered for inclusion in the content of the finalised plan.
*Delivery partners include the Government of Japan, regional/local governments and private entities that provide financial and other support for development of the Plan and delivery of the Games.
Information on feedback from the general public is here.

*As for our Initiatives for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics, CRT-Japan has collaborated with the Institute for Human Rights and Business (IHRB) has published the following papers after careful considerations for public comments, and submitted them to the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Request on Sustainability on the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games
Proposed Human Rights Statement for the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2020
The following paper will be submitted to the Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games after consideration of public comments by 12 February.
Draft Sustainable Sourcing Policy for the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2020
CRT-Japan appreciates their efforts to respect human rights as set out in the Tokyo 2020 High-level Sustainability Plan and the Fundamental Principles for the Sustainable Sourcing Code. However, we think that these papers do not fully respect important elements of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, especially human rights policy and grievance mechanisms. We will continue to work to contribute to the development of better sustainability plan and sustainable souring code.
