CRT Japan and Sedex Group will be holding a joint event “Bringing Transparency to Multi-Supply Chains” in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan.

In the run up to the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympic/Paralympic Games, the management of supply chain risks is getting a significant issue for Japanese companies. As sourcing activities of companies have become more globalized and diversified than every before, societal and environmental issues related to human rights, labour practices, the environment and compliance along their supply chains will pose a great risk to management of companies.

Companies need to implement measures aimed at minimizing and preventing latent risks and uncertainties that might give a significant impact on them, while utilizing limited budgets and resources available to them effectively.

To support their activities, CRT Japan made a partnership with Sedex in February 2015, and CRT Japan is appointed as the Sedex Global Representative in Japan. As part of the partnership Sedex and CRT Japan will be raising awareness of responsible sourcing in Asia and transparency of their supply chains.

Sedex offers the world’s largest platform for managing and sharing ethical supply chain data. Approximately 37,000+ current members are in the Sedex system. Member companies can use the platform to connect to the second and deeper tier suppliers on the platform – which is where the greatest risks are likely to be, but where visibility has traditionally be very limited. By using this platform, companies can manage risks along with their supply chains effectively and improve their sourcing practices in a more responsible and ethical way.

This time, two seminars will be held in Tokyo and Osaka on April 21,22. In Tokyo, Kao Corporation who has become a newly member company of Sedex will present sustainable procurement of Kao Corporation. In Osaka, Miho Okada, Director, CRT Japan will introduce Sedex. And, in Tokyo and Osaka, Tom Smith from Sedex will present an effective way of supply chain risk management.
