Modern Slavery Act Statement Workshop in Tokyo on Friday 2nd March 2018
Modern Slavery Act Statement Workshop in Tokyo will be held on Friday 2nd March 2018.
The Program Content is available here.
The end of the 2017 Financial Year is likely to be approaching. The UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 (MSA) requires businesses operating in UK (with a turnover of £36 million or more) to publish an annual modern slavery statement within the six months after the end of the organisation’s financial year. In compliance with the MSA, companies are required to show the steps they have taken to eradicate modern slavery and human trafficking and demonstrate improvements on their previous MSA Statement. To support Japanese companies who are requested to do so, Ardea International and Caux Round Table Japan will be hosting a joint workshop in Tokyo on Friday 2nd March 2018.
*Ardea International and Caux Round Table announced their partnership in 2017, and this will be the first jointly hosted workshop with Colleen Theron in Japan.
Participants companies will receive 1-2 pages written feedback on their MSA Statement. MSA Statements will need to be submitted by Wednesday 14th February 2018. Please note that 1) a draft of MSA Statement OR one from the previous year can be submitted, but NOT the BOTH, 2) wherever possible, please submit drafts both in English and Japanese, 3) a section of your MSA Statement may be shared among participants (as a case to show how to meet the legal requirement, but will not be disclosed to the public), 4) companies who do not submit the draft/previous MSA Statement can also attend the workshop, but the feedback cannot be provided and the cost cannot be deducted, 5) the workshop will be held under Chatham House rules.
We welcome managers and staff of Japanese companies who are drafting the MSA Statement for the first time, and/or, who want to know how a company can improve their MSA Statement from their previous one, to best meet the legal requirements.
