We are pleased to announce that the book From Division to Reconciliation, supervised by Hironori Yano, Chairman of the Caux Round Table (CRT) Japan, and translated and annotated by Executive Director Hiroshi Ishida and Director Miho Okada, will be published on 21 May 2026.

This publication commemorates the 100th birthday this June of Mr Jens J Wilhelmsen, who supported the activities of MRA (Moral Re-Armament, currently IC: Initiatives of Change), the movement out of which the Caux Round Table (CRT) was born. To introduce the original English book, Eyewitness to the impossible (published in 2016), to Japan, Chairman Yano, who has been a close friend of the author for 50 years, planned and supervised this Japanese edition.

This book records the author’s long journey, starting from the post-war era when he was in his twenties, as he dedicated himself to building trust between opposing nations and parties. Set in Germany, Japan, and the African continent, it consistently portrays his stance of seeking to reconcile antagonistic relationships through dialogue under any circumstances. Throughout the book, the author’s sharp observation and intellectual wit shine. His storytelling, which earnestly addresses profound themes, is candid and full of humanity.

The importance of finding the path to reconciliation by starting with oneself, depicted through his approximately 70-year journey from the 1940s to the 2010s, resonates as a universal message highly relevant to our modern world, which is still plagued by division and conflict. The final chapter of the book also documents the passion and actions of the leaders who shared this spirit and brought about the establishment of the CRT in the 1980s.
